How do we replace a windscreen?

The position and size of a crack on a windscreen can cause it to block the driver’s line of vision, compromising their safety on the road. If your windscreen has suffered substantial damage, chances are it will need to be completely replaced. Our windscreen replacement service will get you back on the road in the safest time possible - take a look below to find out more about our process…

1. We arrive to your location in an agreed time slot.

2. We thoroughly inspect the vehicle for existing damage.

3. The front seats are covered with a double seat cover, and any areas of the vehicle’s paintwork which may become damaged during the process are masked off, ensuring the bodywork is fully protected.

4. We carefully remove windscreen components, including trims and clips, scuttle panel and wipers, as well as the interior mirror and interior trims, to gain access to the very edges of the glass.

5. Using a specialist wire machine, we will cut out the old windscreen to remove it from the glue that is holding it in place. Then, we clean the vehicle aperture, and de-grease and clean the new windscreen in preparation for fitting the replacement.

6. We use a primer on both the aperture and the new windscreen, and apply the new glue to the aperture for a long lasting, faultless fit. We then carefully lift in the new windscreen to sit directly on the glue.

7. Next, we refit all the interior trims and mirror, and the external trims, scuttle panel and wipers. We also check the wipers and rain sensor, if applicable, to check they are fully functional.

8. Finally, we hand the keys back to the customer and explain the safe drive away time.

How do we repair chips and cracks?

1. We will travel directly to your location at a time convenient for you.

With our fully mobile service, we can travel directly to your home, work premises or even roadside location to repair any chips or cracks which have appeared on your windscreen.

2. Windscreen inspection

We will start by checking that the temperature of your windscreen is suitable to work on, before opening up the chip or crack using a probe ready for cleaning.

3. Cleaning your windscreen

Using specialist equipment, we will thoroughly clean the damaged area of your windscreen, removing any excess dirt or moisture to ensure long lasting repairs.

4. Curing adhesive

Our Esprit resin is injected into the chip under pressure, the cured under ultraviolet light. When fully cured, after approximately 20 mins, the structural integrity of the glass is replaced, and the repaired area is actually stronger than the glass itself.

4. Final checks

Finally, we will remove any excess adhesive for a neat and tidy finish, and will clean the rest of the windscreen so you are ready to drive safely on the roads once again!

How do we replace a side window?

How do we replace a rear window?

As rear windows are made from toughened glass, any impact to the glass will cause it to shatter. As such, you must seek expert advice immediately to ensure the entire window is replaced as quickly as possible, so you can drive safely on the roads once again. Take a look at our guide below to discover more about our replacement process…

1. We arrive to your location in an agreed time slot.

2. We thoroughly inspect the vehicle for existing damage.

3. The rear seats are covered and any areas of the vehicle’s paintwork which may become damaged are masked off for complete protection.

4. We then use specialist sharp tools to remove the seals or glue holding the rear window in place and remove the glass from the vehicle.

5. We apply a primer to the vehicle’s framework and carefully fit the new rear window into the vehicle using glass made to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) standards so it matches the original.

6. We then allow the primer to dry, before using our Sika Adhesive for a strong, long lasting fit. Any original fittings are then replaced, and we check the wipers are fully functional.

7. After just 30 minutes, the vehicle can be driven away safely.
