ADAS Radar Calibration (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)

Seat/VW Radar Module

More and more cars are now equipped with Radar Technology, commonly ACC Radar

These Radars are typically used for systems such as Adaptive Cruise control (ACC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).  The correct calibration is of paramount importance as this system controls all aspects of automatic braking.

The Radar module can be mounted in various place on the vehicle.

These Radars need to be precisely calibrated after such work is completed that would mean the Radar module has been knocked , removed , or replaced .

Typically after

  • Wheel Alignment
  • Accident Repair, chassis jigging
  • Steering or suspension work
  • Bumper removal and refitting

If the Radar isn’t correctly calibrated , then it might not show up as a fault on the dashboard  This could lead to an accident, due to it not “seeing” other vehicles or obstacles in front or in adjacent lanes and  could have a severe impact on any resultant insurance claim in the event of an accident.
